Maurice was the eldest of two sons born to Millie and Stan Rundle. Stan was a trained electrician who worked for the local council and Millie was a full time Mum. His younger brother was called Alan and he was his Mum's favourite. This caused tension between the two brothers who were never very close as they grew up.
